"I make art to satisfy my need to create something of value. My confidence and self-esteem are boosted by solving the problems of creating the illusion of three dimensions on a two-dimensional surface.
After experimenting with several different types of paint in my early years, I gravitated to acrylics, in which I work in exclusively. Their quick drying time suit my painting style and work process.
As someone with a strong interest in science as well as art, realism is my chosen painting style. In this genre, I am required to observe nature, pay respect to reality, and put my own personal stamp on a finished piece. I may do this by enhancing colors, or by applying stylized brushstrokes. My goal is to take the familiar and present it in a way not seen by the viewer in everyday life."
